EPDM Flat Roofing

Flat roofing with EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) is a popular roofing solution for low-slope or flat roofs. EPDM is a synthetic rubber roofing membrane made of ethylene and propylene, with a diene component added for increased flexibility and durability.

EPDM roofing systems are popular for their ability to withstand extreme temperatures, UV radiation, and weathering. They are also resistant to punctures, tears, and most chemicals. This makes them an ideal choice for commercial and residential flat roofs.

The installation process of an Carlisle Syntec EPDM roofing system follows these steps:

  1. Surface Preparation: The roof surface must be cleaned and free of any debris, dirt, or loose materials. This can be done by power washing, sweeping or using a broom.

  2. Adhesive Application: The EPDM membrane is then laid over the roof surface and the adhesive is applied. The adhesive used depends on the type of roof substrate.

  3. Seaming: Once the membrane is in place, the seams are joined together using specialized tapes or adhesives. This process is crucial in ensuring a watertight seal.

  4. Finishing: Once the seams are joined, the roofing system is finished with the application of termination bars, flashing, or other accessories.

Overall, flat roofing with Carlisle Syntec EPDM is a durable and cost-effective solution for low-slope or flat roofs that provides excellent protection against the elements.
